A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on
I believe the core group has made efforts to let us know what they are working on. Obviously, we shouldn't expect them to give us a daily update. That would be quite stupid.

If you think that with 8000 members, and 300 contributing members, you can have the congress/senate pass pro-EB laws, you are grossly mistaken.
IV needs to figure out other ways to generate cash if it thinks that would help. One way would be advertising on the site. I think IV has built this website well and it is an asset it needs to use NOW. I believe IV can charge up to $10,000 a day for advertising on the website. That would be $300,000/month or $3.6 million a year. Even $3000/day would result in over $1 million. That should not be very difficult to do.

For a group that can't generate more than 4k-5k per month (200 contributions times 20) for something that it desperately needs, it would be an absolute travesty of common-sense for a business, to invest 300K per month in advertising to such a group.
Keep in mind the following two equations.
Membership+funding+lobbying+patience = Chance of success
Sitting on our butts = Guaranteed failure

They are doing a funding drive.
On day 1 of their funding drive, 117 people gave a total of 5312 dollars.
Their goal is 70K for this quarter. And they hope to raise that money in one week. After this week, they will again ask for funding in the next quarter.
Obviously they have a HUGE membership compared to IV. But that just underscores the need for increasing membership.

On a personal level, it might be helpful to you, however there are others here who want to --start their own company, change employers, go back to school and over and above all be able breathe without feeling suffocated by the system, and reap benefits of the multiple contributions they have made, for, so many years, to the american society.

Once husband and wife can both work, the green card can take its time. Right now the Biggest problem with most people is that "my spouse cannot work!". Maybe if we lobby for h4s to be eligible to work that may solve the problem.

I understand that I'm trying to chose a devil/insurance, which is lesser evil compared to the rest.
So, in that aspect, Comprehensive/Fixed appears to NOT matter at all. These are just pricey nouns. I can't believe that K.V.Rao's insurance lying publicly that it's a not-for-profit. These ridiculous kinds, stoop to such a level of cheating people with a Indian name on it.
I'm still open for any recommendations here. I appreciate all your comments & suggestions so far.

Advantages of EAD far outweigh the disadvantages. Unmarried individuals of PD 02,03,04(eb3) might have a reason to worry but not the rest.

This also explains why cutoff dates have to rely purely on guess work, and move back and forth.

I never got any LUDs but got a denial on my 485 after going through the AC21/NOID stuff way back in August, 2008.
There could be some background processing going on.

I would love to go back to my country i.e India but the problem is there are already tons of people in there and I seriously think they are more brilliant, intelligent and hardworking than me.
If I go back I would be burden to that country so I prefer to stay back with my lazy and un-motivated attitude and also the environment suites me for getting me laid every time I need one.

looking at the sarcastic, venomous and abusive responses, make me wonder why some people are so insecure and touchy. Why is there a my way or the highway mentality. Or may be some are happy living in illusion and don't wanna be shown some reality. couple of points
1) again none of us will be treated same as American. Some of you mention BO as role model, remember his mom was American and he was born in Hawaii. had he been born in Merrut, you wont have been talking bout him.
2) I got canadian PR not because i want to move there or anything. I got it cause its a good backup. If things dont go right in India, i can always come back for few more years. But this time it will be Canada. And before you guys start crying again, Canada has no problem with someone keeping a PR as long as he spends 2 out of 5 years in Canada.
Again, just the sheer number of people from India, China and Mexico running after PR ensures there is a long waiting line. No way around it. So either wait for your turn, or explore other alternative. If you want to spend time howling, crying and protesting, well good luck with that too. It only makes American look down on us as GC seeking lowly, noisy, needy immigrants.
Look up how immigration is done in NZ, AUS and Canada, that's a dignified way and then there is this USCIS way which humiliates you at every step. So the choice is there, its just tht we r too stuck with american GC

I don't think the legal immigrant community has a problem of contributing 20 dollars or 50 dollars to IV. We are sure we all can afford it. Then why do u think members are not contributing?
I think we need to start contribution setup from state level and then the total amount should be be given to the core. If certain state groups organize meetings, email call their members and ask every member for some contribution they will contribute.
The only way is to go approach each member, talk to them, answer their problems and ask for contributions.

I received "Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident" email this evening(Sunday). The only emotion i feel right now, after being in this country for 9 years now, is relief.
i have an EB2 140 with by current company with jan 2006 priority date.
i tried to port priority date of my EB3 140 with my old company (Sep 2003) and that worked out finally.
initially i sent the letter to port date in march 2009.
I resent the letter to TSC last august. I noticed a LUD on my case after this letter on both 140s.

If you think you earn way more then go ahead and contribute more. I just put dollar amounts in front. Many desis here work at 55-65K per year and that is roughly $30 an hour. The ideas is get off your high horses and earn money through sheer labor to get the job of funds done. I see no problem with that.

Because I doubt that anyone willing to wash my car for a few bucks is highly skilled. Personally, I prefer, give 1 day of salary - that's way over $25, and far more effective (I get paid more than $25 for the time it takes to wash a car).

Any of the guys who got these LUDs , was your 485 application transferred from say Vermont or CA to TSC or NSC and if so, did the Transfer Notice have a different Receipt date ?
Everyone who got these LUDs(because of pre=adjudication) has a Receipt date which is in line with the Service Center's Processing timeframe.
During the July fiasco, they were moving applications around so that they can receipt them faster.
The reason I ask is, my 485 receipt date from Vermont is 7/29/07. Then it was transferred to TSC and the Transfer Notice had a receipt date of 10/1/2007. I am wondering which receipt date they'd consider.
Anxious because I had a Change of address (200 miles) and so expecting a RFE.
